
Manager's Message – October 2008
Dear Hurricane House Owners,
Happy Halloween from beautiful Sanibel Island! Your Board of Directors held its Annual Budget Meeting on October 15, 2008. It was a very productive meeting, and many decisions were made to upgrade and uphold the quality of the resort, as well as keep maintenance fees a low as possible. Due to the large amount of information to be reviewed, the Board of Directors will meet again at the end of October to finalize the 2009 budget and reserves.
We are in our final week of painting the exteriors of the buildings, and I believe you will be pleased with the impressive results.
So far in 2008, several exciting property enhancements have been made, including installation of mirrors in exterior unit living rooms; connection of reclaimed water for irrigation of landscaping, which will save your association water costs and provide a more environmentally friendly way to nurture the resort's landscaping; replacement of beachside screen doors on all lower unit patios; re-grading of the entrance and driveway; and replacement of the tennis court boardwalk with a stone path to match the entrance drive.
Just a reminder – the resort staff now throws a complimentary hamburger and hotdog cookout every Tuesday so that Owners and guests can mingle with the resort staff and ask questions.
Also, I would like to reiterate the policy regarding the Owner occupancy list that is printed each week and distributed to the other Owners. Be sure to send us your pre-arrival card (with your signed permission to be included on the list) at least a week before you arrive at the resort. Otherwise your name will not be printed on the list. For your information, here's language from the state law governing this process: Florida State Statute Pursuant to subsequent Section 721.13, Section (3)(d), paragraph 4, and Section (4), the "managing entity" of a timeshare project "may not publish [an] owner's list or provide a copy of it to any [unit week owner] or to any third party other than the Division of Condominiums." In this regard, the phrase "managing entity" refers to both the association, operating through its Board of Directors, and the management company.
